i think it must be strange for John Paul Jones to go back to RAH with a different band a different genre and a different millennium but either way he will still rock out and he'll do a great show best of luck for you Jonesy
I too went to the RAH website. I am a member so logged in ready for the sale. Them Crooked Vultures were included in the list of people playing up until 8.59am. At 9.00am they disappeared off the page, I searched the whole website I even went to the calender page and they had been taken off that too! I could buy tickets for all the other nights, for all the other events but NO tickets were available for sale for TCV! Later the RAH put TCV back on the site and the only tickets that were/are available from them are VIP packages. You never stood a chance of buying a ticket!
I've had this problem before with the RAH so I also logged into seetickets, who I have bought tickets from before. I was held in a queue but got through at 9.02am by which time all the stalls and the arena were sold out and the only tickets that were available was for the circle. Who the hell actually gets to buy these freaking tickets??
Anyway I got 2 tickets for the circle but then later that day got a letter from the hospital with a date for my operation so I will be on crutches for the gig so the circle is going to be pretty unsafe. I am going to buy an "over priced" ticket from a non genuine fan as soon as they hit ebay as it is the only way I will get to see them!
So Stellabr if I get some new tickets and you don't manage to get some, drop me a line nearer the time and you can have my circle tickets if you want them..
Very strange!! I was the 24th in the queue and when I got the RAH website around 9.30 am it was sold out!!! This is a beneficent event! How can another websites now sell the tickets for £100?? I'm a fan and I want to buy one!!
I cannot sum up in words how freakin' AWESOME last night's show was, but i'm gonna ramble anyway. My seats were amazing, even though i was sitting up in the choir behind the guys. I could see everything and was so close to the guys it was un-real, every facial expression Josh made was picture perfect ooh and seeing Dave while going up to my seats was the best experience of the whole night! It shocked me so much to see him standing in front of me when i turned the corner that i just froze for a moment and nearly dropped to the floor. And i touched him!!!! *hyperventilates* i felt like a little girl again.
Anyway to sum it up it was the best concert i've been to and probably will ever go to. It'll take a lot to beat the Vultures.
p.s. John's little dance behind the set when Josh was jamming was hilarious
I was standing a couple rows of people back, and I can confirm it was undoubtedly and expectedly one kick-arse gig. It was the second time I'd seen them, and the mix of the venue having great acoustics (despite some muffled vocals), being relatively intimate and the band being on form made it especially memorable.
Josh continues to impress me with his disgustingly profuse charisma on stage, and I believe him to be one of the best front-men around today. John is certainly one of the most rocking OAP's I've ever seen, and his mastery of the bass as well as the few dozen both obscure and not obscure instruments he seems to be able to play has caused me to believe he is some variety of audibly gifted messiah. And Dave, always being the one I'm most excited to see, brings a unique aggressiveness to his drumming which adds spice to every track and live performance. Alain Johannes is not to be forgotten, mind. He clearly provides a solid rock bed of reliability in both his fantastic guitar playing, as well as some backing vocals.
The chemistry these guys enjoy on stage right now is what makes them fantastic.
Added treats included seeing Roger Daltrey of The Who come on stage (!), Alex Turner of the Arctic Monkeys sitting to my left, and grabbing myself an official TCV/Teenage Cancer Trust T-Shirt. Then finally, also knowing that the money I'd spent was going to a spectacularly worthy cause.
Another great show. I had excellent seats, to the left of the stage. Perfect to watch the master, Mr JPJ at work. The guy is a legend and I hope I am still rocking like him when I am the same age. Dave's drumming was simply stunning and Josh looked like he really enjoyed himself. Not surising in such a great venue.
Not sure what happened with the PA? About half way through the show something kicked in and it suddenly got much clearer and much louder
Simply the best band on the planet at the moment IMHO
